Both nationally and internationally, there is no other region that shows such a density of color painters as Cologne and its immediate surroundings, already since the 1980s. Moreover, since that time no other art institution has tried as strictly as the Verein für aktuelle Kunst/Ruhrgebiet e.V. to offer an adequate forum to color painting on account of its meaning, actuality and fascination. Thus, it seems reasonable to venture an overview in a representative group exhibition about the various positions of color painting given by painters with current or former references to the Cologne region.
